Tilly's Reading /// Introducing Social Semiotics

 

I have recently started to read Introducing Social Semiotics by Theo van Leeuwen. As the video I'm using in my artwork focuses on speech and communication I thought looking at semiotics could be interesting to research.

In this book I am specifically looking at the chapter about Rhythm as I am currently experimenting with interrupting the rhythm of the piece by cutting out sections.

One quote which I have found particularly inspiring is "As we act together and talk together we synchronise". This quote is making me wonder whether I can make the audience synchronise themselves with the piece in some way, and how I could interrupt this.
