EVELYN CHOW//INITIAL IDEA: A COFFEE CLOCK

Living in a city, we are all under pressure reading numbers of time. We calculate have much time to spend on a presentation, how much time we have on an exam, how many hours to work, etc. It becomes a fear to look at the time. As artists, we can make life more exciting and show the time in a different and more interesting way. People like drinking coffee and staying in cafes. It is where we talk about work, gather with friends, and have a nice coffee. Because it is easy, quick, and affordable. Do you remember how many times you spend in a cafe? Once a week or daily? We are so familiar with the coffee machine in the shop. Why not make it a clock? I think it is more interesting to look at than a normal clock with numbers. Becasue of the features of the coffee machines, they are as accurate as electric clcoks;with a constant speed.

On the otherhand, time seems less accurate when we are on holiday or work from home. Time changes when we have coffee at home, it becomes slower and blurrier. Our perception of length of time depends on locations, objects, and moods. For example, when we sit on the beach, the 'one coffee' time is different from the 'one coffee' time at the office.

In these cases, I calculate the number of cups of coffee to measure the time duration.
