EVELYN CHOW//INSPIRATION:'The Micro World, The Enlarged Time.'

This post is about the inspiration for my VVV-Residency 2023 project. I will continue to develop the theme of time this year in a different direction. It will focus on the 'duration' of the passing time.

'Time' is invisible so we do not aware easily when and how long it passed. Therefore, with the advance of technology, various tools to measure time have been invented. 'From the simple elegance of an ancient Egyptian sundial to the ornately gilded and encrusted mantel clock of the Victorian age, both are mechanical devices that record the passage of time and artistic allegories that capture the idea of passing Time. ' (Lehman College Art Gallery, 2018) However, when we do not have a clock, time can be told from the transformation of materials, for example, melting ice, raising the water levels, and decaying food; we can use a microscope to observe changes of time on objects. This post attaches some pictures and footage here to brainstorm ideas.

Here are some examples of videos I downloaded from Pixabay, a free online library.
