EVELYN//REPETITION IN MANUFACTURING

Plato gets a lesson in his own geometry. Promotional image for Tetra Pak, 1960s.

In the last post, time is shown through the effect of the state of ink (art material). Talking about repetition, I have to bring up repetition in manufacturing. Unlike screenprints, there are only tiny differences in products, that can not be noticed. The production is a process of copy & paste. I am fascinated by the shape of the triangle milk package in the promotional image for Tetra Pak (1960s). Duration in this case is the life of machines and the number of materials. Time starts when the machine switches on, and it ends when it runs out of power or materials for the products.
